In 1973, McHuron moved to Jackson, Wyoming, to be close to the subjects he preferred to paint - primarily landscapes and wildlife. McHuron most often paints en plein air, and names the esteemed landscape painter Conrad Schwiering as a major influence to his artistic style. He exhibits his work in galleries throughout the United States and has been a member of the Society of Animal Artists since 1979.
McHuron says about his work: "I prefer painting on location as much as possible, as the drama and excitement which occurs all around me is difficult to recreate in a studio environment. When I paint these rapidly changing scenes, I try to put into each of them the feelings and excitement I felt while watching the scene unfold. If I can capture that particular feeling, I know that those viewing my works will come to feel some of the emotions and excitement that motivated my wanting to record this particular fleeting moment."

BiographyBorn in Syracuse, New York, Greg McHuron was raised in Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, and California. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in art, and also took classes in forestry, fisheries, and wildlife.
