InscribedOn the back of the piece there appears to be two different inscriptions. Both are in red, one in pen and one that is faded to the point where it is hard to read. From what I was able to read the inscription says, "W.H. Jackson oil painting a self portrait Going west in 1866 [in pen] I think T [sic] painted some [very faded, my best guess] Time between 1920 and 1930"
