Copyrighted well after painted, given style and signature.  

Back of photograph from Rungius Studio Collection at Glenbow reads, "$300.00," then, in Rungius's hand, "His Majesty the Moose / (Moose-Head) / copyright 1910 by Carl Rungius / 107 Kent St. / Brooklyn, N.Y." PA-1875-165.  
The Rockford Morning Star, Feb. 23, 1913 article says this painting won honorable mention in Berlin exhibition (1910?); it also mentions that it was hung in the headquarters of The Progressives at the La Salle Hotel and  when Theodore Roosevelt walked into the room and saw it he said, "Bully."
