BiographyBorn in Ontario, Geordie Millar spent early days with his father and grandfather sketching outdoors, exploring the lakes and bays of Ontario and haunting the famed Royal Ontario Museum. In Toronto he received the tutelage of artists Bob Bateman, Terry Shortt, AJ Casson and George McLean. McLean introduced him to the works of C.L. Bull, Bruno Liljefors, Paul Bransom and Bob Kuhn. Millar went on to study figurative anatomy, drawing and painting at the Art Students League of NY and the National Academy of Art and Design of NY. A stint as Artist-in-Residence at the Hiram Blauvelt Museum in NJ led to a friendship with painter Douglas Allen and an artistic mentorship with the late John Schoenherr who became, along with McLean, a major influence on the young artist's work.
