"In 1924 a picture by Carl Rungius of
“Rocky Mountain Sheep” was bought. In 1925 a picture of the “Timber Wolf” by
Mr. Rungius was ordered and is nearing completion." (30th Annual Report of the NYZS, for the year 1925, p. 19, published January 1926). No record or image of the "Rocky Mountain Sheep" painting has been found. The Gallery of Wild Animal Paintings book lists the date of the wolf as 1927.
